Itinerary
DAY ONE
Get ready to ride! We’re kickstarting this Lost Sierra mountain bike tour in Truckee, where you’ll meet the team and get loaded up in the van. The first adventure is a backcountry ride to the summit of Mt Lola, perched well above 9,000 feet! The approach meanders through lush meadows and pine forests before ascending into the craggy alpine high country. Savor the panoramic views before plunging over 2,000’ back down to the van. Another lake, another lunch and then we’re heading north for the day’s cherry-on-top shuttle ride down Mills Peak, which is 7 miles of spectacular trail totaling over 2,500’ of elevation loss. Enjoy a post ride beer under the trees at a nearby brewery before the short shuttle to the Inn at Nakoma. Take time to unwind before we reconvene for dinner.
ride details: 9 - 18 miles & 2,000' - 2,500' climbing
DAY TWO 9 to 24 miles
Stretch it out this morning with an on-site yoga session and get that blood flowing. We head over to Quincy for the day, where we spend the day ticking off laps on Mount Hough. If you are a fan of going fast on smooth trail (I mean, who isn’t?) then you’ll LOVE this ride. Ride a lap, grab a bite, take a dip in the river, repeat. That’s our agenda today – simple, yet so sophisticated. Back at the hotel, define what R & R really means with a soak of the bones at their fitness center’s hot tub and then we will gather for a final group dinner together.
ride details: 9 - 24 miles & 600' - 1,800' climbing
DAY THREE 9 to 21 miles
Rise and shine! An optional early bird shuttle to catch the sunrise atop Mills Peak is there for anyone interested. After returning to the hotel to pack up and enjoy breakfast, we head out on our final ride in the adjacent Lakes Basin zone, where rugged, granite terrain awaits your adventurous soul. We’ll choose a route that caters to what energy and enthusiasm remains in the group, so stay fired up for a few more hours as you pedal around one of our favorite spots. Surprise, surprise…there’s water near the end of this ride so you can wash away the dirt, but not that grin, that you’ve been collecting the last few days. After the 1 hour shuttle back to Truckee, you’ll tell our team goodbye and go your own way.
